Malaysia’s government is aiming to launch its ‘National Fibre Connectivity Plan’ in 2019 with an allocation of MYR1 billion (USD240 million), the New Straits Times reports, citing comments made by the country’s finance minister, Lim Guan Eng. Speaking at the tabling of the budget for next year, the minister said: ‘The plan will develop our broadband infrastructure to ensure more efficient spectrum allocation to achieve the targeted 30Mbps speed in rural and remote areas within five years, as part of the overall plan to achieve world class infrastructure at affordable prices.’
