Japan’s leading mobile carrier by subscribers NTT DOCOMO has confirmed it will use Anritsu’s 5G New Radio RF Conformance Test System ME7873NR platform for its ongoing 5G tests. Anritsu, a Japanese multinational active in the telecommunications electronics equipment market, said that the combination of its new system with DOCOMO’s existing platform will help ensure a stable 5G service rollout. Anritsu’s ME7873NR supports both 5G NR standalone (SA) and non-standalone (NSA) modes, while when combined with an over-the-air test chamber for 5G, ‘the system covers not only the sub-6GHz bands but also the millimetre-wave frequency bands used by 5G,’ the vendor said.

The Japanese mobile network operator (MNO) has been carrying out a number of trials in the 5G field, mainly with China’s Huawei Technologies and Finnish vendor Nokia.
