Vodafone Ukraine LTE reaches all regions, 43% of population

26 Oct 2018

Vodafone Ukraine has expanded its 4G LTE mobile network in the 1800MHz band to six additional regional centres – Vinnitsa, Cherkasy, Zhytomyr, Rivne, Ternopil and Khmelnytsky – among other locations, giving it a 4G presence in all 25 Ukrainian regions (24 oblasts plus Kyiv metropolitan). The latest expansion means that Vodafone Ukraine (owned by Russia’s MTS) reaches 18 million people with LTE services – or 43% of the population – an increase of four million in just over a month, and the operator said in a press release that rollouts continue in existing and new coverage areas, as it looks to keep pace with rivals Kyivstar and Lifecell. All three operators launched LTE-1800 services on 1 July 2018, three months after their launches of LTE 2600MHz networks.
