East African telecoms company Wananchi Group is considering a sale as some of its investors look to exit the business, Bloomberg reports, quoting people familiar with the matter. UK-based Liberty Global, Netherlands-based Altice Europe and Helios Investment Partners are reportedly interested in selling their stakes in Wananchi, in a sale that could value the business at as much as USD500 million including debt. Lazard has been hired to work on a potential sale, the unnamed sources added. Wananchi, which also operates under the brand name Zuku, provides pay-TV and fibre and satellite broadband services in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Malawi and Zambia.
