Comcast gigabit footprint approaches 58m homes

US cable giant Comcast has announced that its gigabit broadband footprint now covers roughly 58 million homes and businesses across 39 states and the District of Columbia. The cableco claims that this deployment represents the fastest roll out of gigabit speeds to the most homes in the US to date. Further, Comcast notes that it has increased speeds 17 times in 17 years and has doubled the capacity of its broadband network every 18-24 months. Gigabit broadband services are marketed under the ‘Xfinity Gigabit Internet’ and ‘Comcast Business Gigabit’ brands.
