Danish telecoms giant TDC Group has announced the takeover of its smaller rival Hiper. The deal is expected to close in November and does not require regulatory approval. Following the transaction’s closing, the business will become a part of TDC’s OpCo unit. Jaap Postma, Executive Vice President of TDC Group and CEO of OpCo, commented: ‘Hiper fits very well into our portfolio of brands, delivering agile and innovative products on digital platforms. At the same time, Hiper is strongly positioned to speed up the opportunities that will arise in the Danish broadband market, which will be an exciting future.’
Hiper was founded in 2015 by executives from domestic ISPs Fullrate and Cybercity, with a view to capitalising on the popularity of streaming services. It currently offers broadband over DSL, cable and fibre platforms, with premium download speeds of up to 1Gbps.
