Finland-based Elisa Corporation has published its financial results for the three months ending 30 September 2018, with revenues unchanged against the corresponding period a year earlier at EUR454 million (USD524 million). According to the operator, a combination of certain divestments, lower usage in the fixed voice market, and lower roaming and interconnection revenue in its domestic market impacted revenue negatively, while growth in mobile and digital services in the consumer segment, as well as growth in the Estonian business, all had a positive effect. Third-quarter EBITDA, meanwhile, totalled EUR169 million, up from EUR165 million in 3Q17, with Elisa attributing this in the main to growth in the mobile sector and cost efficiency improvements, while operating income was up 1.2% year-on-year. Pre-tax profits totalled EUR104 million in 3Q18, unchanged y-o-y, while net profit flat-lined at EUR85 million.
In operational terms, at the end of September 2018 Elisa reported a total of 4.679 million mobile subscriptions, down from 4.710 million a year earlier, with the lion’s share of those, or 4.008 million (down from 4.033 million), being located in Finland. Total fixed broadband accesses numbered 691,000 at the end of the quarter, up marginally from 686,000 in 3Q17, of which 594,000 were in Finland and the remainder in Estonia.
