Almadar Aljaded (Al Madar Telecomm Company), Libya’s second largest mobile network operator (MNO) by subscribers, has announced it has launched a ‘4G+’ mobile internet service, writes Reuters. The LTE-A network has been activated in the Greater Tripoli area and a subsequent rollout to Benghazi and other cities is also planned soon. Al Madar chairman Abdulkhaliq Ashour commented: ‘The service of the 4G+ network was not an easy task. We were confronted with many difficulties and obstacles, both in terms of financing or the security situation that hindered implementation.’ He went on to say that expansion to the south of the country was unlikely any time soon as it was too dangerous to send engineers as Libya remains unstable.
