Unicom accelerates fibre rollout with ROADM project

China Unicom has begun work on its ROADM Experimental Network Project, accelerating the deployment of its ‘All Optical Network (AON),’ local news outlet C114 reports. The project comprises the installation of 39 new reconfigurable optical add-drop multiplexers (ROADMs) transmission sites covering Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Henan, Shandong, Shanxi and Inner Mongolia. In total, 31 master sites will be constructed in key cities in the region, alongside eight inter-office extension sites.
