Swisscom could be looking to offload stake in Fastweb

Swisscom is reportedly considering a sale or a joint venture for its Italian ISP subsidiary Fastweb. Bloomberg writes that plans for a partnership have been discussed with Italian fixed and mobile operator Wind Tre, though unnamed sources have said that Wind Tre’s Hong Kong-based owner CK Hutchison is not interested in pursuing a deal. Swisscom acquired Fastweb in 2007 for EUR3.1 billion (USD3.6 billion). Fastweb recently won spectrum in the 26GHz band in the Italian government’s 5G auction, which the telco is expected to use for fixed-wireless services.
