Guinea’s Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Digital Economy (MPTEN) has announced the launch of the country’s first national internet exchange point (IXP). The ministry stated that the objective of the IXP is to make Guinea part of the African interconnection network, with national, sub-regional and regional concentrations. The exchange will also ensure that all local mobile internet traffic will no longer have to pass through expensive international links, thereby improving the efficiency of network operators in the country.
