11 Oct 2018

British broadband provider KCOM has detailed the next phase of its fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) technology rollout, as it ‘connects the final corners of its network to its full fibre service’. With the Hull-based company noting in a press release that its ‘Lightstream’ branded fibre offerings will be available to around 2,700 more premises in Bransholme by end-October, it said it is aiming to reach a further 3,500 properties in that area by the end of the year, before reaching 3,500 more by February 2019. Meanwhile, KCOM noted that other areas where its engineers will soon begin rolling out FTTP include the Boulevard area of Hull, where 3,300 properties will be connected in November, and Orchard Park, where 800 homes will be connected by the end of 2018.

KCOM chief marketing officer Cathy Phillips said of the matter: ‘I’m delighted we’re now bringing Lightstream to thousands of homes in Bransholme as we near the end of our journey to give Hull and East Yorkshire the truly world-class full fibre broadband network it deserves … We are now in the final phase of our six-year programme to connect Hull and East Yorkshire to one of the fastest broadband networks in Europe and this is already bringing huge benefits to homes and businesses across the region.’
