Beltelecom doubles fastest tariff to 200Mbps

9 Oct 2018

Belarusian state-owned national PTO Beltelecom has doubled the download speed of its fastest residential broadband tariff from 100Mbps to 200Mbps but says that there will be no increase in price. The telco’s ‘Record 100’ plan (100Mbps/50Mbps down/upload) has been replaced by ‘Record 200’ (200Mbps/100Mbps), for the same monthly charge of BYN40.65 (USD19.1), it says – and was available from early October.

As previously reported by CommsUpdate, Beltelecom signed up its two-millionth GPON fibre broadband subscriber in August this year. The PTO began deploying the GPON network in 2011, attracting one million GPON-based customers by end-2016 and reaching the 1.5 million subscriber mark in September 2017, before hitting the latest milestone in the first week of August 2018. The telco is continuing its programme of replacing copper lines with fibre-optics, giving users access to ultra-fast broadband internet speeds, interactive IPTV and unlimited on-net fixed voice calling.
