AIS, True to skip 900MHz spectrum auction

9 Oct 2018

Advanced Info Service (AIS) and True Move have confirmed that they will not participate in the 900MHz spectrum auction scheduled for 20 October, claiming that they have sufficient bandwidth in a number of spectrum bands to provide their services, The Bangkok Post writes. AIS said that after careful consideration of the auction terms, management is confident that forgoing bidding will not affect its competitive advantage as its total spectrum holding (2×60MHz) is sufficient for future growth. For its part, True Move also confirmed it believes it has sufficient bandwidth to meet customer demand over the next two years and will not join the auction. Thailand’s National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) extended the submission period for 900MHz spectrum bid applications to 16 October, though Total Access Communication (DTAC) is the sole company to have picked up bid documents so far.
