Competition Authority approves Telia’s acquisition of Get, TDC Norway

The Norwegian Competition Authority (Konkurransetilsynet) has approved Sweden-based Telia Company’s takeover of local operators TDC Norway and Get. The merged companies will have around 2.3 million mobile customers, while 1.8 million people use the broadband/pay-TV services offered by Get and TDC Norway.

Johan Dennelind, President and CEO at Telia Company, commented: ‘I am pleased that the Norwegian Competition Authority sees the advantages with this transaction. It will create a leading convergent operator for both consumers and enterprises in Norway which can compete in the market with a lot of attractive and new products and services.’

Telia Company will close the transaction on 15 October 2018, and the two acquired businesses will be consolidated into its reporting from November 2018.
