CMHK contracts Huawei for transport network upgrade

China Mobile Hong Kong (CMHK) has contracted Huawei to deploy a 5G-ready transport network which will support its entry into Hong Kong’s fixed broadband network. The operator is looking to serve both enterprise and residential users in the fixed internet market, while it is also upgrading its transport infrastructure to support future 5G mobile services. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, CMHK controls around 19% of the territory’s mobile market in subscriber terms.
