Telia Eesti continues fixed upgrades

5 Oct 2018

Estonian fixed and mobile operator Telia Eesti says it upgraded its fixed internet networks covering 20,000 homes in the first eight months of 2018, with plans to take the total to 45,000 by the end of the year. The operator is deploying fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) technology which can offer peak theoretical download speeds of up to 1Gbps, while copper lines are being upgraded to provide speeds of up to 100Mbps. 100Mbps DSL connections are already available to 300,000 households across the country, it says. Telia says it plans to spend more than EUR50 million (USD57.5 million) on its network development between 2017 and 2020.
