Vodafone Germany has announced the launch of its gigabit cable broadband service in the federal state of Bavaria. Around 800,000 people in the cities of Nuremberg and Landshut are now able to access maximum download speeds of 1Gbps. By the end of the year, the high-speed network will reach around five million people in Bavaria and a total of twelve million across Vodafone’s cable footprint, with this set to reach 22 million people by the end of 2019. In terms of households, the firm is aiming to upgrade its entire cable network – passing 12.7 million homes in 13 states – to enable top speeds of 1Gbps by the end of 2020.
