Viettel Global, the holding company that manages Viettel Group’s international telecoms businesses, has been approved to list its shares on the Unlisted Public Company Market (UPCoM) of the Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX). According to local website VnEconomy, some 2.2 billion shares will be listed on the UPCoM from 25 September, with a floor price of VND15,000 (USD0.64) per share; Viettel Global will use the code ’VGI’. The report notes that Viettel Global currently has 6,348 shareholders, although Viettel Group is the largest by some distance, holding 98.68% of the company’s shares.
Viettel Global was established in October 2006 with a view to giving the Vietnamese company a platform for its international expansion ambitions. Outside of its domestic market, Viettel is now active in Cambodia, Laos, Timor-Leste, Haiti, Peru, Mozambique, Cameroon, Burundi, Tanzania and Myanmar. Viettel Global claimed a total of 40 million mobile subscribers at end-2017.
