IPLAN now passes 150,000 Buenos Aires homes with fibre

IPLAN, the Buenos Aires-based data centre/cloud computing firm, which launched a fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network in selected areas of capital city Buenos Aires in October 2016 has confirmed that its fibre networks now pass 150,000 homes in the capital. The service, which is offered via the ‘IPLAN LiV’ brand, is now expected to be extended to around 180,000 homes by end-2018, down from an initial projection of 300,000. Connectivity is currently offered in Recoleta, Palermo and Belgrano, while future deployments will cover Retiro, San Nicolas, Nunez, Puerto Madero and Colegiales.

TeleGeography notes that the FTTH network supports download speeds of up to 500Mbps, with a monthly subscription priced at ARS2,099 (USD54.1).
