Tigo launches LTE-A in five Tanzanian cities

17 Sep 2018

Millicom Tanzania, which provides mobile services under the brand name Tigo, has announced the launch of an LTE-A network. The 4G+-branded service is currently available in five cities – Dar es Salaam, Arusha, Morogoro, Moshi and Dodoma – and supports maximum download speeds of 120Mbps. Tigo says expansion of the new high-speed network to other cities is ongoing. ‘The launch of 4G+ is in line with Tigo’s transformative journey and the company’s objective of offering customers the best digital experience,’ commented Tigo’s Chief Technical and Information Officer, Jerome Albou, adding: ‘We are setting the pace among mobile service providers and catapulting technology to the highest heights of digital offering in the country.’

In April 2015 Tigo launched a 4G LTE network which offers maximum speeds of 60Mbps and is currently available in around 24 towns and cities across Tanzania.
