Tele2 Latvia snaps up 3.5GHz spectrum for 5G

17 Sep 2018

Latvian telecoms watchdog the Public Utilities Commission (Sabiedrisko Pakalpojumu Regulesanas Komisija [SPRK]) has completed its auction of a 50MHz block of spectrum at 3550MHz-3600MHz, raising EUR6.53 million (USD7.58 million) for state coffers. Tele2 Latvia was awarded the ten-year concession – valid from 1 January 2019 – after fending off competition from Lattelecom. The winning telco noted in a statement that it plans to use the frequencies for 5G technology.
