Oi FTTH service now live; will cover 21 cities by end-September

Brazilian telecoms operator Oi has officially switched on its fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network, which supports maximum download speeds of up to 200Mbps. A premium ‘200 MEGA’ subscription is priced at BRL189.90 (USD45.78) per month and includes uplink speeds of 15Mbps. The telco’s first phase rollout will be complete by the end of September, by which time the FTTH network will cover 21 cities, including the likes of Rio de Janeiro; Belo Horizonte, Recife, Salvador, Manaus, Fortaleza, Brasilia, Goiania, Porto Alegre and Curitiba.
