Altice USA deploys FTTH on Long Island

13 Sep 2018

Altice USA, the US cable firm which owns Cablevision (Optimum) and Suddenlink, has announced that it has deployed a fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network on Long Island in New York State. The rollout – which marks a departure from the cableco’s existing HFC deployment strategy – supports symmetrical Gigabit down/upload speeds. Going forward, Altice seeks to extend FTTH coverage across Cablevision’s New York cable footprint.

Hakim Boubazine, the co-president and COO of Altice USA, commented: ‘Delivering our symmetrical Altice Gigabit fibre service is just the start as we continue to scale our fibre network to bring our customers up to 10Gbps internet speeds to support the explosive growth of data usage while laying the groundwork for the future of the connected universe.’
