Digicel still owed dues from former ISP

10 Sep 2018

The Curacao Chronicle reports that the founding owner and CEO of bankrupt ISP/telecoms operator Scarlet, Paul Gelderloos, has been ordered by a judge to pay ANG1.5 million (USD838,000) in compensation to cellco Digicel Curacao. Despite the bankruptcy, the court decided that Gelderloos was personally liable for the unpaid dues to Digicel incurred in 2015-2017. Scarlet was declared bankrupt in August 2017 by the Court of First Instance of Curacao; a deferment of payments had been granted the previous month but the company’s debt position subsequently worsened.
