MGTS acquires ISP Progtech

31 Aug 2018

MGTS, the Moscow city fixed network subsidiary of MTS, has struck a deal to purchase 99% of smaller ISP Progtech, which operates in and around the city of Zhukovsky in the Moscow Region, reports Vedomosti. The value and terms of the deal were not disclosed. The acquisition reportedly gives MGTS control of around 60% of the internet access market in Zhukovsky (with a population of around 108,000). Vedomosti adds that the takeover is the first instance of MGTS buying an independent operator in the Moscow Region, as part of a strategy to expand outwards from the saturated Moscow metropolitan market.
