Italian MNP system struggling to cope with demand

Italy’s Communications Regulatory Authority (Autorita per le Garanzie nelle Comunicazioni, Agcom) is to hold talks with mobile operators in an effort to iron out problems with the country’s mobile number portability (MNP) system. According to a report from CorCom, since the launch in May this year of new low-cost network operator Iliad, porting requests have multiplied and the system is struggling to cope with demand. The report says that some transfers are taking up to ten days to complete, well over the maximum limit of three days.
