Vodafone Qatar connects first corporate customer to a 5G network

Vodafone Qatar announced on 28 August 2018 that it has connected its first enterprise customer to a 5G network located at Qatar Science and Technology Park. The management of carrier customer Gulf Bridge International (GBI) received 5G customer premises equipment (CPE) from Vodafone to enable wireless broadband access at speeds exceeding 1Gbps. The day before this announcement, Vodafone Qatar announced the switch-on of its first live 5G network at a ceremony showcasing 5G ultra-low latency applications. Previously, in late July Vodafone Qatar disclosed its first tests using spectrum in the 3.5GHz band allocated for 5G, revealing that it was deploying a 5G network at more than 50 sites across the country.
