US cooperatives tap ADTRAN for Gigabit broadband solution

30 Aug 2018

Alabama-based telecoms vendor ADTRAN has been selected by a number of US utility cooperatives to deliver Gigabit broadband services to their member communities. The parties involved have been named as Sequachee Valley Electric Cooperative (SVEC), Meriwether Lewis Electric Cooperative (MLEC), North Alabama Electric Cooperative (NAEC) and Tombigbee Electric Cooperative. The cooperatives are credited with introducing electricity to rural communities for the first time several decades ago and have now turned their attentions to the broadband sector. FiberRise will carry out engineering services for the project, which is set to benefit more than 100,000 people across Alabama and Tennessee.
