Net1 Indonesia teams with Qualcomm to develop dual SIM devices at 450MHz

PT Sampoerna Telekomunikasi Indonesia (STI), which changed its trademark from Ceria to Net1 Indonesia in May 2017 as part of its planned migration from CDMA to an LTE-450-based service, has announced a partnership with Qualcomm to provide dual SIM telecommunication devices that support 450MHz networks. The telco says it is aware of the limitations of current devices operating in that band as it strives to expand its network reach and increase the number of customers on its books. ‘[Our] partnership with Qualcomm will sharpen our solutions so that customers can continue to enjoy the highest quality Net1 services,’ said Net1 chief executive officer Larry Ridwan, while Qualcomm Indonesia’s Shannedy Ong described the joint project as ‘very meaningful for the company, especially in terms of efforts to provide telecommunications services in rural areas’ of Indonesia.
