Swiss full-service provider Sunrise has booked total revenue of CHF462 million (USD470 million) for the three months ended 30 June 2018, an increase of 2.0% year-on-year. Growth was fuelled by increases in service revenue from the post-paid mobile, broadband and TV and B2B segments. EBITDA for the period was down 2.6% y-o-y to CHF145 million, however, due to higher service fees following the disposal of its towers in August 2016. Net income also dipped 10.1% to CHF24 million, with Sunrise noting that lower financial expenses were offset by higher depreciation and amortisation.
In operational terms, Sunrise reported a 7.7% increase in post-paid mobile subscriptions, alongside a 14.7% decrease in pre-paid users, as customers continue to migrate to contract plans. In the fixed segment, meanwhile, the operator recorded increases of 11.0% and 22.3% in its broadband and IPTV user bases, whilst landline voice subscriptions also grew by 5.7%, bolstered by growing popularity of multi-service plans. Indeed, Sunrise counted 261,400 customers on multi-service plans – 159,400 of which were quad-play – compared to 228,500 a year earlier.
