Bulgarian telecoms company Vivacom (registered as Bulgarian Telecommunications Company, BTC) has released its financial results for the six months ended 30 June 2018, reporting a 4.8% year-on-year increase in revenues, to BGN453 million (USD263 million), while adjusted EBITDA increased to BGN170.5 million, up 5.8% y-o-y. Capital expenditures for the first half of 2018 amounted to BGN65 million; 66% of the total investment for the period was focused on the development of infrastructure, with 99% of the Bulgarian population now within the company’s 4G footprint.
In operational terms, Vivacom’s mobile subscriber base totalled 3.053 million users at mid-2018, 88% of which were signed up to post-paid contracts. Further, Vivacom reported an 8.9% increase in the number of broadband subscriber accounts, to 492,000, with over half of those using fibre-optic services. Vivacom currently passes 1.15 million households with fibre, providing users with download speeds of up to 100Mbps. IPTV subscriptions, meanwhile, stood at 215,688 at mid-2018, up 15.6% y-o-y.
