NTT DOCOMO revenues up 3.8%; fibre subs pass 5m milestone

NTT DOCOMO has reported that its quarterly operating revenues for the three months ended 30 June 2018 (Q1 FY19) reached JPY1.18 trillion (USD10.6 billion), up 3.8% from JPY1.13 trillion year-on-year. Operating profit climbed 9.9%, to JPY309.9 billion, while profit attributed to NTT DOCOMO shareholders increased 9.2% y-o-y, to reach JPY218.3 billion.

In operational terms, the provider claimed 76.746 million mobile subscribers at 30 June, of which 51.344 million were LTE users. ‘DOCOMO Hikari’-branded fibre-optic broadband subscribers, meanwhile, passed the five million milestone, reaching 5.086 million at end-June.

In infrastructure terms, NTT noted that its LTE network comprised a total of 188,700 base transceiver stations (BTS) as of 30 June, while its ‘PREMIUM 4G’ service is available in 1,652 cities via 114,300 BTS.
