Telekom offers new 250Mbps fixed broadband service to 6m homes

31 Jul 2018

Telekom Deutschland, the domestic operating unit of Deutsche Telekom (DT), will begin offering maximum fixed broadband speeds of 250Mbps on 1 August. The high-speed service will initially be available to six million households in 900 municipalities, with this set to rise to 15 million households by 2019. In the first rollout phase the focus was on regional centres and rural areas, and a second phase, lasting until the end of the year, will then bring the new service to large cities. To access the 250Mbps/40Mbps down/upload speeds, customers need to book the ‘Magenta Zuhause XL’ plan, which costs EUR19.95 (USD23.3) per month for the first six months and EUR54.95 thereafter.
