Cash-strapped Brazilian telco Oi has entered into a ‘long-term strategic cooperation’ with Chinese vendor Huawei to modernise its broadband networks. Reporting on the pact, O Globo says that the equipment firm will deploy a fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network that passes some 20 million homes. In addition, Oi seeks to streamline its multiple mobile networks in an effort to free up spectrum for its planned introduction of LTE-A technology.
