C Spire taps Mimosa, Siklu to support fixed-wireless ‘5G’ rollout

27 Jul 2018

Regional US mobile operator C Spire Wireless has announced a pair of vendor contracts designed to boost its in-deployment fixed-wireless ‘5G’ ambitions. Mimosa Networks has been enlisted to supply sub-6GHz equipment and technology solutions in neighbourhoods, small towns and cities across Mississippi, bringing coverage to ‘tens of thousands of consumers and businesses’.

In its second agreement of note, C Spire has teamed up with millimetre wave (mmWave) specialist Siklu to deliver backhaul connectivity for its last-mile networks in 150 Mississippi towns and communities, using ‘uncongested’ spectrum in the 60GHz, 70GHz and 80GHz bands.

C Spire launched its so-called ‘5G’ service earlier this summer, delivering download speeds of up to 120Mbps (50Mbps uplink), with no data caps, for a flat-rate of USD50 per month.
