19 Jul 2018

Telefonica Colombia (Movistar) and Ericsson have achieved downlink transmission speeds of 27Gbps in a Bogota-based 5G trial. The tests took place at an Ericsson facility in the capital, and utilised spectrum in the 28GHz millimetre wave (mmWave) band. Going forward, the telco hopes to engage ecosystem partners, such as academic institutions, health professionals, and firms in the energy and agriculture sectors to help test the capabilities of 5G technology on an active network.
