Sweden-based telecoms group Tele2 has announced its Q2 2018 financial results, reporting a revenue increase of 6% year-on-year from SEK6.15 billion (USD697.7 million) to SEK6.49 billion for the three months ended 30 June 2018. The company says that the increase in revenue is largely down to strong mobile end-user service revenue growth in the Baltics, Kazakhstan and Croatia, as well as strong equipment sales in Sweden and the Baltics. The firm reported net profit of SEK670 million in Q2 2018, up 26% from SEK530 million one year earlier. EBITDA also increased year-on-year to total SEK1.79 billion, up 13% from SEK1.58 billion in Q2 2017, attributed to higher profit levels in the Baltics, Kazakhstan and Croatia, driven by revenue growth.
In Q2 2018 Tele2 increased its group-wide mobile subscriber base to 15.106 million, up from 14.792 million in the year-ago period, while its fixed broadband customer base decreased from 96,000 to 76,000 between Q2 2017 and Q2 2018. Fixed telephony subscribers also declined, following the global trend, as Tele2 recorded 286,000 customers at end-June 2018 compared with 352,000 one year earlier.
