6 Jul 2018

Telekom Deutschland, the domestic fixed and mobile operating unit of Deutsche Telekom (DT), has doubled fixed broadband internet speeds for 800,000 households in 1,250 Bavarian municipalities. Households in the newly-upgraded areas are now able to access maximum down/upload speeds of 100Mbps/40Mbps through the operator’s IP conversion and the rollout of vectoring technology. From next month, Telekom will begin offering bandwidths of up to 250Mbps through super vectoring technology, with the firm stating that 1.8 million Bavarian households will be able to benefit. In addition, the firm says it aims to connect 120,000 households and 470 business parks to fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) infrastructure, while the company is also building 1,000 new mobile stations in Bavaria by the end of 2020, with a focus on important transportation routes and rural areas.
