Philippine telecoms operator PLDT Inc. has announced the rollout of fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) services in El Nido, Palawan, a popular tourist resort in the country. The decision to start offering fibre-optic plans to end users comes in the wake of PLDT linking the province to its Domestic Fibre-Optic Network (DFON) backbone, with senior vice president and head of consumer business market development, Oscar Reyes Jr, noting: ‘Our FTTH rollout in El Nido forms part of PLDT’s commitment to support growing communities in the country with facilities that enable world-class connectivity and bring them to the digital frontier’. PLDT also has ongoing projects to further expand its optical fibre facilities in El Nido and other areas in Palawan to boost fixed and wireless connectivity.
