14 Jun 2018

Mytel, the Vietnamese-backed newcomer to the Myanmar wireless market, has reached 70% population coverage with its LTE network, the Myanmar Times quotes Chief External Relations Officer Zaw Min Oo as saying. The operator has covered almost all of Yangon region, requiring the deployment of ‘thousands’ of base transceiver stations (BTS). The official warned, however, that the company was still experiencing some transmission issues and as such ‘there may be some interruptions in some locations’. Mytel currently claims around 100,000 subscribers.
