Altice-backed MEO to trial 3.6GHz 5G with Huawei

Altice-backed PT Portugal (MEO) is expected to stage a 5G trial this week, in conjunction with Chinese vendor Huawei. According to SAPO TEK, the demonstration will utilise MEO’s existing network alongside one of the vendor’s pre-commercial 5G terminals, which will operate using the 3.6GHz band. The 5G memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the two parties was inked in February this year at the Mobile World Congress 2018 event in Barcelona.
