Rain Mobile launches commercial services

7 Jun 2018

South African broadband group Rain (previously Wireless Business Solutions [WBS]) has launched its Rain Mobile LTE service in South Africa, priced at ZAR50 (USD3.9) per 1GB. Rain said it is offering data packages with no contracts or regular monthly fees, and no data expiry period. ‘Today, Rain launches a new-generation 4G network that will redefine how South Africans use mobile data. It is the only mobile network that focuses solely on data offerings, thereby significantly reducing the price for consumers to connect to the internet.’ The operator offers up to 90 days of free unlimited data, after which consumers will be charged for their consumption at the end of each month. An unlimited off-peak data add-on costs ZAR250 per month.
