Belgian telco Telenet has announced that it has completed the acquisition of ICT integrator Nextel. Last week the Belgian Competition Authority gave Telenet the green light to take over TelelinQ, the parent company of Nextel. The deal sees Telenet strengthen its corporate offerings and is in line with the company’s strategy to develop into a leading player for both fixed broadband and mobile markets in the business sector. Initially Nextel will keep its brand name, however, the long-term aim is for businesses to have one point of contact for all telephony and network solutions, including telephone exchange in the cloud, integrated communication services, IoT and LAN/WiFi solutions, camera surveillance and access control to buildings.
Telenet Business Senior Vice-President, Martine Tempels commented: ‘The activities of Telenet Business and Nextel are highly complementary. Together we can now offer all-in-one solutions. Thanks to this acquisition we now have around 1,000 people working on the business market. We can now also concentrate fully on further growth in Brussels and Wallonia, two markets that still hold tremendous potential for Telenet.’
