Chinguitel Mauritania improves customer experience

30 May 2018

Mauritanian mobile operator Chinguitel has signed a contract with Ireland-based data monetisation solutions vendor Tango Telecom. According to a press release, the cellco will deploy Tango’s Data Retail Engine (DRE) solution to provide customers with more personalised and relevant digital content, including ‘targeted service and plan offers, on-device purchase and activation, real-time engagement, and personalised visibility and control’.

TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database notes that Chinguitel is the second largest of Mauritania’s three cellcos, claiming around 28% of the overall market at the end of 2017. The trio of operators – Chinguitel, Mauritel and Mattel – have come in for criticism from the regulator, the Autorite de Regulation (ARE), for their failure to provide consistent quality of service (QoS) levels, and all three firms have been fined on more than one occasion for falling below minimum QoS requirements.
