Kosovo’s telecoms watchdog the Regulatory Authority for Post and Electronic Communications (Autoriteti Rregullator i Komunikimeve Elektronike dhe Postare, ARKEP) has postponed the deadline for the implementation of the 383 international dialling code from 1 June 2018 to 31 October 2018. From that date, the 383 code will be the only code for origination and termination of international traffic in Kosovo. At present, the country uses a mixture of codes, including those for Albania, Monaco and Slovenia, depending on the operator. Explaining its decision, ARKEP noted that IPKO and Kosovo Telecom had requested an extension having encountered challenges in complying with the order but had completed much of the necessary work. The regulator added, however, that newcomer MTS had yet to functionalise the 383 code.
