Metfone launches LTE-A

Viettel Cambodia, which provides mobile services under the brand name Metfone, has announced the commercial launch of an LTE-A network, as it seeks to capitalise on rising subscriber demand for high-speed data services. Khmer Times quotes the firm’s vice-general director Nhong Dinthan as saying that customers with 4G SIM cards are now able to access the new network, although coverage is limited to around 21% of its existing footprint, with this set to be expanded in the near future. ‘With this new technology, subscribers will enjoy internet speeds up to ten times faster than with 4G,’ Mr Dinthan said, while also unveiling a new corporate branding.
