Govt working with World Bank to expand fibre coverage

The World Bank is reportedly working on developing a fibre rollout programme for Kosovo, that would lift fibre coverage to 95% of the nation’s territory. RTK quotes Economic Development Minister Valdrin Lluka as saying that the international organisation was assisting with a two-year, USD30 million project. The programme is still passing the World Bank’s approval stages and would see fibre infrastructure rolled out in areas where it not economically viable for operators to deploy networks themselves. The minister claimed that fibre coverage is currently around 65%.
