MTN Irancell to switch off WiMAX

Iranian cellco and ISP MTN Irancell has announced that it will be switching off its WiMAX wireless broadband systems on 21 May, with all remaining customers being migrated to its TD-LTE networks. The firm, which is 49%-owned by South Africa’s MTN Group, says TD-LTE technology offers faster connection speeds and improved reliability over WiMAX.
