9 Apr 2018

Beeline, Russia’s third largest mobile network operator by subscribers, registered as PJSC VimpelCom, has had its application to test 5G frequencies in nine regions rejected by the State Radio Frequency Commission, reports Prime Business News Agency. A source close to the commission claimed that VimpelCom intended to test 5G in the 3.4GHz to 3.8GHz bands and the 25.25GHz to 29.50GHz bands and that it was the second time the company has made an application to test 5G frequencies after its first was also turned down.

According to Russia’s digital economy programme, 5G networks should be rolled out in all Russian cities with a population of over one million by 2020.
